2010 Photo Contest Rules
PHOTOGRAPHS:
· “8 x 10” color prints, mounted on 8.5” x 11” black matte board, or black foam core.
· All submissions must have a negative or digital image file of submitted photo
available upon request.
· All photographers must submit own material.
· Home printed entries allowed, but if we are unable to reproduce a quality photo
for publication, the photo will not be considered.
· Please do not include people in your photograph.
· ALL PHOTOS SUBMITTED IN STANDARD CATEGORY must reflect the subject and
the scene as it appeared. Little or no digital enhancement is allowed in this
category except for minor cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color
and contrast.
· ALL PHOTOS SUBMITTED IN ARTISTICALLY ALTERED CATEGORY may be
computer enhanced by photo painting or other digital techniques for image
manipulation. Fisheye lenses, multiple exposure and other non-standard photos
are to be entered in this category.
· No watermarks, signatures, timestamps or copyright notices may be added to
images.
· Photographs that have won other contests, either online or in print, are not
eligible for submission. We define winning as having won a grand prize or having
won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place overall.
· All photographs must have been shot by the entrant within the past three (3)
years (since January 1, 2007)
ENTRANTS:
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
· Each entry consists of a single image and entry fee.
· The entry fee is $5.00 per photo.
· Each entrant may submit entries at any time during the contest period,
but no entrant may submit more than three (3) entries total.
· Each entry must have a signed and dated Official Entry Form attached to
the back of the photo and include: Photographer’s name, address, daytime
phone number & e-mail address, photo category, and designation amateur
or semi professional. (semi-professional is defined as a photographer who
derives less than one half of income from the sale of photos).
JUDGING:
· Criteria includes originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.
· The Friends of Umpqua River Light will determine winners and all decisions made by judges are final.
DEADLINE:
· All entries must be submitted according to Official Rules and must be received or postmarked by deadline of August 31, 2010 to be eligible.
LICENSE & YOUR RIGHTS:
· By entering the Contest, all entrants grant a royalty free, world wide
irrevocable perpetual exclusive license to Friends of Umpqua River Light to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries (along with a name credit) in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest, in any media now existing or subsequently developed.
· Entrants agree to be bound by the Contest Rules, and agree that personal data of name and city/state location may be processed, shared and otherwise used for publicity purposes as we see fit in promoting the winning photos.
· All photos become the property of Friends of Umpqua River Light and cannot be returned.
NOT ELIGIBLE: All individuals affiliated with the Friends of Umpqua Lighthouse Board, Douglas County Parks & Museum Staff or its volunteers and interns are not eligible to enter the photography contest.
