Our Keynote Speaker for the evening will be Jim Woodward, a national expert in the Fresnel lens used in many lighthouses.  Mr. Woodward's distinguished career includes 40 years of service in the U.S. Coast Guard, and has been a key player in over 100 lens projects throughout his career, including the historic mercury float lenses.  Upon his retirement from the Coast Guard, JIm was awarded the Commander's Award for Sustanined Excellence, and was cited in the award as being "the single greatest resource for lighthouse and Fresnel lens preservation in the Coast Guard."   With his company
The Lighthouse Consultant, LLC, he now devotes his efforts entirely to lens preservation.  He also serves as Chair of the Technical Advisory Committee of the American Lighthouse Coordinating Committee.

Comments from other local, state and national dignitaries, an auction and night tours of the Umpqua River Lighthouse will round out the evening festivities in this fundraiser for Friends of Umpqua River Light.

The buffet menu includes Prime Rib, Grilled Salmon, Rice Pilaf, Roasted Red Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Salad.
